Daniel Tiger CHD Preschool Curriculum
Ages 2 - 6 Years
When young children with congenital heart defects (CHDs) go to school, their classmates may not understand their needs and differences. As a result, children and families with CHDs sometimes end up feeling isolated.
Preschool and Pre-K teachers can use this Daniel Tiger curriculum to help young children talk about congenital heart defects in a developmentally-appropriate way, and to celebrate every unique student. Parents are encouraged to share this curriculum with their children's teachers.

A Note for Parents
Here at the Cardiac Neurodevelopmental Program (CNP), we aim to listen to our community, and to respond directly to their needs. Back in 2017, multiple parents shared with our staff that they felt disconnected from their school communities, and they wondered how well their children's teachers and classmates understood their families' lives.
In response to this need, we worked with the Fred Rogers Company to create this curriculum: We Take Care of Each Other. We invite you to use the curriculum at home, and to share it with your children's daycare providers, teachers, and schools. We hope it will bring you comfort and connection as your family transitions to formal schooling.
As always, if you recognize an unmet need in the heart defect community, let us know! We will try to help. Email: CNPschedulingandquestions@childrens.harvard.edu
